About Me
I come from Tallinn, Estonia – a country with just under 1.4 million inhabitants. In the summer months, the sun doesn’t set. In the winter, the sun doesn’t show itself very often.
My first years of teaching in Myanmar were from 2012 to 2014, at MISY. After spending 10 years back in Europe, I have now returned to Yangon, the place that has always felt like my second home.
I focus a lot on health and well-being, aiming to live this life to the fullest and with longevity. I wish the same for others around me and enjoy having conversations on this topic. My favourite ways to spend free time are walking in nature, exploring, running, and practicing lethwei.
In my classroom, trust is of utmost importance, because when my students feel safe, they dare to explore, make mistakes, ask questions and learn from each other every single day. It’s a great privilege to be able to contribute to how minds are developing.
Area of Special Interest
I have always been passionate about play-based learning, and I firmly believe in its importance for the development of a child’s cognitive and emotional well-being.
To complement my experience, I have extensively studied child brain development, and through my personal journey as a mother, I have explored the Montessori method to better understand how and when children learn best. This insight helps me every single day to connect and understand my students better.
When children are having fun, they are learning the most. My special interest is to daily ensure my students enjoy their time in my classroom, in every subject.
