About Me
I have worked in the Education field for many years and I still regard myself as lucky to have found a field that is so rewarding to work in. Prior to the pandemic, I was working at a British International School in Shanghai as a science teacher. I enjoy working in cultures where education is highly valued and seen as a doorway to a better life. When I am not working, during the brighter days I like to get out into nature and when it is rainy, I like to stay at home and cook. Let’s hope Myanmar gives us all more brighter days than wet ones. I get plenty of these in Scotland.
Area of Special Interest
My particular area of interest is on how improving scientific literacy improves the achievement of learners. From my own experience, I have found that learners who understand the concepts are more engaged in the learning process. I have also found that targeting the scientific literacy levels of certain students can help reduce the achievement gap.
