About Me

I grew up in a small seaside village in Northern New South Wales, Australia. After graduating with a major in instrumental music pedagogy, I established a music school in Sydney, which I ran for seven years before relocating to the UK where I transitioned into the school system. A varied career followed, which has so far spanned five countries. As well as leadership roles in various schools, I have taught and mentored pre-service primary and secondary teachers through Australian Catholic University and University of Sydney. I have a daughter and a son who are at university in Edinburgh and Sydney, and enjoy fitness, live music of all genres, knitting and cooking.

I enjoy the planning element of educational leadership and am particularly interested in how medium to long term strategy at school level influences outcomes and opportunities for young people. My Master of Education (International Education) was focused on educational sociology and my thesis examined staff management and motivation during the Covid-19 restrictions. 

My ongoing interest in teacher training has led to me various roles as a mentor teacher, university tutor and tertiary supervisor and I contribute to professional development platforms in this area on a regular basis.
