About Me
Mingalarbar! I’m Chung 😊
I’m a new staff member at MISY.I will be teaching a Myanmar Humanity subject in MISY. I’m also a Head of languages (Myanmar and Mandarin). My first job was a University teacher from Yangon University, Myanmar Department and worked there for 7 Years (2002 to 2008 Nov). Then, I joined YIS (Yangon International School at 2009 until 2022. I joined Yangon International School (YIS) in the middle of the school year, which is 2009 after winter break. I served as a Head of Myanmar Studies Department and I worked there for 13 years. I’m also an IB self-taught tutor (Burmese Literature A) from 2022 till present.
I see the Myanmar Humanity subject as very important for the students because this is the host community’s subject and students will understand better in their host country’s situations such as; traditions, norms, climate, culture, history and its people. Myanmar Humanity subject also provided not only the knowledge of host country but also a high level of critical thinking and analysing skills that students will need for their lifelong learning journey.
Area of Special Interest
When I studied for my PhD, my specialist field was linguistics and I am very much interested in languages and their features but as I am also a Myanmar teacher, so I love Myanmar literature, Myanmar History, Myanmar and its people.
