About Me
I was born in Durban; South Africa and I grew up in in the city of gold-Johannesburg. I graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand with a Bachelor of Primary Education. I have worked in a variety of schools during my career, spending many years teaching second language learners in a remote, rural area of South Africa. I have also worked in a museum, developing programmes to assist poorly resourced schools, access effective teaching materials. For 15 years I taught in the early years department at a prestigious preparatory school in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, where I was able to focus on creating new and innovative teaching programmes. In 2007 the school appointed me Head of Arts and Culture. For the past 7 years I have taught and held several leadership roles at Chaoyang KaiWen Academy in Beijing, China. I am married to an Archaeologist and have a daughter and a son.
Area of Special Interest
My educational specialization is in Primary School Education, but I have worked in all divisions from K to G12. I have served in a number of leadership roles and over the years have enjoyed the challenges of being both a teacher and a leader.
