About Me

My name is Jacinta and I’m all the way from Cape Town – South Africa. I am a friendly, caring and hardworking person who enjoys helping others. I love learning new things and meeting new people. I am proud of where I come from and enjoy sharing my experiences and culture with others. I always try my best and believe that being kind, positive and respectful is important. In 2012 I studied a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in psychology, anthropology and sociology. Thereafter I started working in the corporate sector (Banking) for the next six years. I always had a passion for empowering others with the knowledge I had and I decided to complete my PGCE in 2022.

Area of Special Interest

My area of special interest is English and PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education).
I have a major in both subjects and enjoy helping students develop their communication, critical-thinking and personal skills. Through English, I am passionate about developing students’ reading, writing, speaking and confidence. Through PSHE, I aim to support students in building positive relationships, understanding themselves and others, and developing important life skills. I believe that these subjects play an important role in helping young people become confident, responsible and successful individuals.

Experience

I bring a diverse and well-rounded educational background, having worked at three well-established schools in South Africa across both primary and secondary levels. This experience has provided me with a strong understanding of the different stages of student development and the ability to adapt my teaching approach to meet a wide range of learning needs.

As a Primary Homeroom Educator, I have taught and supported students across all core subject areas, developing a broad and practical knowledge of the primary curriculum. I take pride in creating engaging, purposeful learning experiences that encourage curiosity, confidence, independence and a genuine love of learning.

In addition to my teaching experience, I bring a valuable financial and numeracy background to the classroom. This has strengthened my understanding of mathematics and enhanced my ability to connect mathematical concepts to practical, real-world situations. I believe this combination of academic knowledge, classroom experience and financial awareness allows me to provide students with a well-rounded education that extends beyond the textbook.

My experience across different school settings, age groups and subject areas has developed me into a flexible, reflective and student-centred educator who is committed to high standards, positive relationships and helping every learner reach their full potential.
