About Me
I was born in York in the north of England and gained my degree in Modern Foreign Languages at Newcastle University. After working for a year for an international company I decided to complete my CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and I moved to Myanmar in 2013. I had visited Myanmar every summer between 2007 and 2013 so I knew what a wonderful country I was coming to. I have worked in a language school and two international/private schools in Yangon and this is my 5th year at MISY having completed my PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) at Sheffield Hallam University in 2021. I am married with two daughters and we are honoured to call Myanmar our home. When I’m not working, I enjoy swimming, volunteering with young people, reading and cooking.
Area of Special Interest
With a background in ESL teaching, I have a keen passion for literacy as well as phonics and early reading. Having worked as the Head of Student Welfare in a previous international school, I take great care in promoting the wellbeing of each student.
